Whether you're a single parent, new family or well-practised
parents,
having the right cover in place is so important to ensure you or
your
loved ones are able to live on during or after a crisis. And
it’s
not
always the main breadwinner that needs to be insured….
Most common questions asked by families;
Who should be covered, me or my partner?
There are two scenarios to consider when looking at family
cover.
Insuring those that earn makes total sense, however in some
cases
the
stay at home parent is just as important to insure. Give some
thought to
the impact of the house person being unable to do the school
runs,
daily
household chores and the taxi runs for the kids?
Why do I need family cover?
Whether it’s your kids or partner who is dependent on you,
financially
or not, Life Insurance, Critical illness Cover and Income
Protection
will provide you with the money needed for your family to get by
should
any of you have an illness or injury, or even worse pass away.
We both have good jobs so do we need any cover?
Having two incomes is great whilst you are both able to work,
but
what
impact would it have on you financially if one of you all of a
sudden
can’t work? Understanding your work benefits such as your sick
pay
entitlement, as well as the state benefits, will enable us to
identify
whether you need to look at any insurances to financially
support
you
and your family, should anything bad happen.
What type of insurance do I need?
This really depends on your own circumstances. Life Insurance is
there
for the worst case scenario, whilst Income Protection or
Critical
illness Cover are there for the more likely scenario of being
seriously
ill or injured. By helping you understand what help you get from
your
employer as well as the state benefits you're entitled to, we
can
talk
you through your options that are most appropriate for you.
Have a question for us? Here at All You Need Protection we get
that everyone’s
circumstances are unique, and that one policy doesn't fit all, so we pride

Look after number one!
You may think that by not having a partner or children who are
financially dependent on you, insurance isn’t necessary, however
you
could be missing a trick... What about looking after number
one!?
Give
some thought to how you would pay your rent or mortgage, plus
other
regular monthly commitments, should your income stop?
Whilst Life Insurance or Critical Illness may not be as
significant
(although can be recommended in certain circumstances such as
protecting
a long term debt like a mortgage), Income Protection is the
perfect
solution for you if you would not be able to continue to pay
your
mortgage/rent plus other outgoings, in the event of you being
unable
to
work through illness or injury.
Most commonly asked questions;
Why do I need insurance if it’s just me?
Whilst there are a number of areas to consider, your income is
likely to
be the most important thing to you right now. Imagine it
stopping,
how
would you pay for anything? Income Protection allows you to pay
your
bills and creditors, whilst also protecting your credit score.
How do I find out what benefits I get from my employer?
You can usually find your employee benefits either in your
contract
of
employment, employee handbook or by contacting your HR
department.
Talk
to one of our advisers who can help break down any work benefits
you
receive.
How much will have to pay each month?
The monthly premium will depend on several things, such as how
much
cover you take, the term, your health and lifestyle. By speaking
to
All
You Need Protection we can build a policy suitable for you, and
a
budget.
I am self-employed; will I pay a higher premium because of
this?
Being self-employed does not necessarily mean you will have to
pay
more
for a Life Insurance, Critical illness or Income Protection
policy.
Certain occupations can mean higher premiums, such as someone
working at
heights of 100 feet either employed or self employed, so this
will
be
taken into account when we put together a policy. Having access
to a
whole of market panel of insurers gives us the flexibility to
pick
the
right provider for you.

As a Business owner and regardless of its size, you are likely to already
protect many of the key things that keep the business running smoothly such as;
Equipment, Property, Fleets and Stock. So it makes sense to insure your most
valuable assets; you, your staff and business partners.
All You Need Protection is on hand to talk to you about how you can protect your
company from every angle including it’s profits, keeping control of the company
if a shareholder or partner sadly passes away or becomes ill, or simply
protecting any corporate debt or liabilities.
Most common questions asked by business owners;
What type of business insurances are there?
As a company there are certain policies you are legally obliged to have such as
Public Liability (PL) Insurance, Fleet Insurance or Employers Liability, all
depending on the type of business you have. However, a business’s most valuable
asset is its people, meaning without them, a company’s survival can be at
serious risk. As well as general insurance, our advisers target four key
elements of business protection;
· Business Ownership - Share or Partnership Protection
· Business Profits - Key Person Cover
· Business Debt - Key Person Cover
· Staff Benefits - Private Medical Insurance / Death in Service / Income
Protection
How do I protect my company profits? Either a short- or long-term life or
critical illness policy known as Key Person Cover. This will pay out a lump sum
amount to the business that will make up any loss in profits and keep the
business running whilst you're looking for a replacement or help cover costs
such as recruitment.
Who needs shareholder or partnership protection? Any company that wants
to keep control of their business in the event of a shareholder dying or
becoming seriously ill. The loss of a shareholder can result in the shares going
to the deceased persons spouse or estate, meaning it's up to the family to
decide what happens with the shares. Having funds paid to the business quickly,
allows the company to buy back the shares and retain control.

What is an Income Protection policy?
A policy that would replace your income, in the scenario that
it
was to
reduce or stop all of a sudden, through illness or injury.
Who is Income Protection for?
Anyone who is Employed or Self Employed, that would struggle to
pay
their regular commitments if their income reduced or stopped
because
of
an illness or injury. In both scenarios you need to be aware of
the
help
that you may or may not receive from your employer as well as
the
state
benefits, as this will be taken into account when considering an
Income
Protection policy. We can talk you through all the state
benefits
and
help you understand your contract of employment, to ensure you
are
not
over insured and have a policy in place that is most appropriate
to
you.
How much will Income Protection cost?
Like other insurances, age, occupation, health and lifestyle
will
have
an impact on the price you pay. More importantly it will depends
on
how
much you insure yourself for. This can be worked out by looking
at
your
outgoings, how quickly you need the benefit to pay, and how long
you
would need to receive the benefit for. All You Need Protection
can
talk
you through all the options available so you are 100% certain
the
policy
is right for your unique situation.
When should I take out Income Protection?
Like other insurances such as Life Insurance and Critical
illness
Cover, age plays a big part in the price you pay so by arranging
a
policy sooner rather than later, will mean you get a lower
price. We
recommend you look at Income Protection when you have regular
monthly
commitments such as monthly rent/mortgage, car loans and other
living
costs, that you wouldn’t be able to pay in the event of your
income
reducing or suddenly stopping through no fault of your own.
How long should I take out Income Protection for?
Income Protection can be taken out for a period of time, such as
a
mortgage term, or for the duration of your working life i.e. up
until an
expected retirement age. The term can play a part in the price
you
pay
each month, so should be carefully considered when looking at an
Income
Protection policy. Our advisers will make sure your policy is
right
for
your circumstances.
I am self-employed; will I pay a higher premium because of
this?
Being self-employed does not necessarily mean you will have to
pay
more
for a Life Insurance, Critical illness or Income Protection
policy.
Certain occupations can mean higher premiums, such as someone
working at
heights of 100 feet, but the price would be the same whether you
are
employed or self-employed. All of this will be taken into
account
when
we put together a policy and by having access to a whole of
market
panel
of insurers, this gives us the flexibility to pick the right
provider
for you.

What is a Critical Illness?
Unlike a Terminal Illness found with most Life Insurance
policies, a
Critical illness is more of a life changing experience rather
than
life
threatening (although in some cases a critical illness can be
life
threatening). Every insurer has their own list of Critical
illness
definitions, so selecting the right insurer is vital to getting
the
correct cover in place.
How does Critical Illness Insurance work?
It pays out a lump sum to the insured person, on diagnosis of a
critical illness. Nowadays insurers have their core cover which
will
result in you receiving 100% of the policy pay-out. There are
also
additional payments which will usually pay a percentage of the
sum
assured in addition to the core cover, depending on the
condition,
plus
partial payments where again there will be a percentage pay-out.
Partial
payments can be taken from the original policy amount so this is
something to be aware of when considering Critical illness
Cover.
Most
providers will also cover any dependent children under their
critical
illness definitions, but isn’t always included as standard (and
will
cost extra). If having your children covered under the policy is
important to you, our advisers can talk you through the
different
options to ensure you have the most appropriate policy in place.
What is Critical Illness Cover used for?
Critical illness Cover is a policy to support you, your family
or
business, through life changing moments. It can be used for a
number
of
things such as clearing a mortgage, replacing an income or
simply
providing the funds needed for the person insured to get on the
road
to
recovery.
How much does Critical Illness cover cost?
The price, like most other insurances, will depend on a number
of
things such as age, sum assured and the policy term. All You
Need
Protection will be able to take in to account all of these
things
meaning you get the most appropriate insurer recommended for
you.
How long should I take out Critical illness cover for?
This will depend on what you what to achieve from your policy.
It
could
be that you require something in place until an expected
retirement
age,
for a term of your mortgage or other debts, or just to cover you
whilst
your children are financially dependent. The term of the cover
will
also
determine how much you pay each month, so by speaking with All
You
Need
Protection you can be sure you’re paying the right price for a
policy
that’s right for you.

What is Life Insurance?
Life Insurance is a policy which will pay out a lump sum when
the
person
insured sadly passes away. Most Life Insurance providers will
also
payout should that person become Terminally ill, which is known
as
Terminal Illness benefit; however there are some restrictions
with
this
depending on the insurer you chose so it's always best to check.
Who is Life Insurance for?
Life Insurance is for the benefit of others who will suffer a
financial
loss should the person insured sadly pass away.
When should I take out Life Insurance?
Like most insurances, age plays a big part on the price you pay
so
the
sooner you obtain it, the cheaper it will cost, however taking
out a
Life Insurance policy without a need for it, could mean you’re
paying
for something you don’t really need. A Life Changing event will
usually
prompt people to look at Life Insurance, such as; Moving out of
the
family home, starting a family, taking on a mortgage / other
debts,
or a
business protecting their Profits or Shareholders.
How much will Life Insurance cost?
There are a number of things that will impact the price you pay.
The
amount of cover you opt for, the term, your age, health,
occupation
as
well as dangerous hobbies and past-times, so these will all be
taken
into account when selecting an insurer.
How long should I take out Life Insurance for?
Usually there two options. Life Insurance can be set up over a
number of
years (Term Assurance), to match a debt or age of someone, or it
can
be
set up to carry on until you pass away (Whole of Life).

What is Private Medical Insurance (PMI)?
Private Medical Insurance (PMI) offers access to high-quality
private
medical services and treatments, when and wherever suits you! It
also
helps fund the cost of early diagnosis and treatment of acute
conditions.
What is an acute condition?
The definition of an acute condition is a disease, illness or
injury
that is likely to respond quickly to treatment and return
someone to
the
state of health they were in before, or lead to a full recovery.
This
could be anything from physiotherapy, to more serious procedures
such as
major heart surgery or biological therapy for the treatment of
cancer.
Why do I need Private Medical Insurance?
It’s all about speed of treatment, and choices. With pressures
on
the
NHS to meet healthcare demands growing rapidly, including
increasingly
stretched resources, PMI can play a complementary role to all
the
services offered by the NHS.
What is excluded from Private Medical Insurance?
Private Medical Insurance will not cover chronic conditions
which
are
defined as treatment that will last for a long time, where the
main
aim
is to keep the symptoms under control – these will be treated by
the
NHS.
Can I get Private Medical Insurance with pre-existing
conditions?
There are a few scenarios to consider with pre-existing
conditions.
Depending on whether you have an existing policy in place, and
when
you
last had any treatment for the condition, will depend on whether
they
can be included. If not covered immediately, there are ways to
ensure
you will be covered in the future, subject to any treatment you
may
have.
